We are home to 1700 students from 40 nationalities. We are inclusive and celebrate our diversity by welcoming students of all faiths.
The SJI International Alumni Association serves as a platform for former students to keep in touch with one another, to keep updated with the latest developments of the School, and to connect with one another through activities such as the annual Summer Reunion and through the annual magazine: Infinitas.
As the President of the Association, it is appropriate for me to introduce myself and tell you a little more – lest you think I am some disembodied voice from the Association’s Facebook page. I’m Ian, from the pioneer graduating batch of 2009. I recently graduated from reading Law at St John’s College, Oxford, and I have started working at the Attorney General’s Chambers. I read books and magazines voraciously, and as my batchmates would tell you, I used to be quite mad about rock climbing. Nowadays, I don’t quite have the time, strength, or grace to do ridiculous things on those walls, so I’m more commonly found in the gym doing some weights in a way an old man would, or rowing. Back in the day, I was from 12 ASc, and was involved with the Senior Council, debate, and rock climbing, amongst other things. Now, I hope we can bring the Alumni back together, if not physically, then electronically, from all the far-flung and exhilarating parts of the world you have gone to since graduating. And hopefully, we can give something back to the school at the same time.
Ora et Labora
It was an evening that celebrated old (and new) friendships and golden memories gone by. The 2016 Alumni Reunion, which took place in the IB Lounge on 23 July, saw nearly 100 former students and staff reconnect as they chatted the evening away with good food and great company.
Seeing the past, present, and future come together at the Alumni Reunion was a powerful affirmation that friendships forged at SJI International are truly for a lifetime. Our graduates are now studying at universities across the globe, including at some of the world's most prestigious universities. We have students who are currently studying at Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Stanford, the universities of Oxford and Cambridge, and many other top universities, including all of the prestigious Russell Group of universities in the United Kingdom.
On 24 January, a group of Alumni based in the UK gathered for lunch. The casual gathering was a wonderful opportunity to catch up, reminisce, and share about university life. The mix of Alumni allowed for varied and lively conversations and time flew by! It was heart-warming to see Lasallians, though far from home, still in touch and at the same time excelling in their fields. It was tremendously enjoyable for all of us, and we hope to do something similar next year, so if you are or will be based in the UK be sure to look out for updates!
